A humble beginning ....

So the first real " Event " was added to the website - yesterday --- and so I feel like I need to mention
a few things ---- first I'm going to add pretty much the whole email I received from the Armory Arts & Music Center.   But in general if I get email like that I will most of the time
add it to the site --- if it has relevant material about youth activities.   By most of the time I
will need to have some contact with the group or organization that has sent me the info,
but I think I will be trying to apply good sense in adding activities.

In this case we have met with the Mark Poirier, and I am personally supportive of what is going
on, in terms of a worth while activity for Duluth youth particularly those with an interest in music of
performing.

The text of the email follows:

Dear Marc,
The Music Resource Center- Duluth Armory’s first day of the 2016/2017 school year will be Tuesday September 13thThe MRC is a FREE after-school music program for teens from 6th -12th grade, is located at Sacred Heart Music Center at 201W 4th Streetin Duluth, and is open from 4:00 to 6:00 on TuesdayWednesday, and Thursdaythroughout the school year.
We’ll kick off our 6th year in operation on the 13th with a pizza party and jam session. Food will be served at 5:00 and families are welcome.
The MRC provides a creative, safe environment where students learn to play instruments, write songs, record and edit music on state-of-the-art software, and work together. The MRC also provides performance opportunities such as our monthly Open Mic at Amazing Grace, and each spring we produce a professional quality CD of student’s songs. Last year we had over 50 students attend the program at various times.
If you know a teenager that is interested in music encourage them to check out the Music Resource Center. If you have questions, please contact me.
We’re looking forward to a great year!

So we'll try to keep this updated with info on these activities.

So immediately (now) you will see on the calendar these repeated events with most of the
details from this email....  And I will make changes as needed or requested.

Today is today ....

So it kind of feels like I lost a transmission on this project.

Actually what happened was, I sort of tasked myself or at least faced the issue of user documentation,  of which I have been, ( sincerely ! ) a strong believer of, through
out most of my life.  Unfortunately, I find that I am actually not so great at creating user documentation.

You gotta  love excuses like that, really.

Anyway, after a couple of months trying at this, not very successfully,  I had a meeting
at the Duluth:  CED,    where it was suggested that I try Google Apps for Work,  and so I did.

But it still seemed like the transmission was broke - but I finally made it to a reasonable
place with it - and I do believe that this is the right direction moving forward, nevertheless,
I will certainly be able to apply certain features perhaps hosted in other locations.  But
I certainly feel that there is a lot of Google apps documentation which is quite accessible
as well as, media,   meaning videos.  Also I think that there are a lot of services available
that will allow  collaboration and co-operation through out the Duluth kids

So as this organization has been established as a non - for - profit ,,, and google will allow
non for profits to use Google apps for free, then our membership will also be free, as long
as and if this remains possible.

Which brings me to the wordpress site : duluthkidsnet.  My goal was to use this mostly
documentation on the duluthkids.net system which is now really at google apps.   So,
moving forward with this - this site will now be focused mainly on google apps, and working
with that technology mostly for users of duluthkids.net.

Finally,  I have not linked the google site to the url but expect to do that imminently which
most probably means by the end of this week......

So if you are interested there will be a contact page there so that we can contact you.

So hopefully this blog will now be focused on efforts to add members to Duluth kids.
